Ciudad Quesada, often referred to as San Carlos, with a temperate climate all year round, is one of the most fertile agricultural areas in Costa Rica. Meat and dairy production (Dos Pinos, Costa Rica’s largest dairy cooperative) is a key industry, but there are also coffee farms which can be visited.

Most services such as hospital, schools, universities, hotels, restaurants and shopping centers are around.

The real draw to this town is the fresh, clean air and beautiful hillsides. There are several hot springs in the area. The 35,000 acre Juan Castro Blanco National Park is an excellent place for bird-watching and has three volcanoes on site.
