As of October 26, visitors arriving in Costa Rica will not have to present proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test, Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura announced today.
Costa Rica: Corona test no longer required on entry
The change comes after Costa Rica opened its airports to international visitors for the first time three months ago. Since then, international tourism “has not been a source of COVID-19 contagion”, Segura said.
The decision also follows a recommendation by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) at the beginning of October, according to which the implementation of coronavirus tests for arriving travelers “is not recommended as a tool to mitigate the risk of international spread”.
Travelers must also upload an epidemiological form(https://salud.go.cr/) in their home country before departure and present an insurance policy covering 50,000 dollars for medical services and at least 2000 dollars for possible accommodation costs in connection with a corona disease upon entry.
Tourists do not have to go into quarantine after entering Costa Rica.
Costa Rican citizens returning to the country by air will also no longer have to undergo a 14-day quarantine from October 26.
As of November 1, Costa Rica will open its airports to tourists from all countries and US states.
