The US airline Southwest Airlines expands operations in Costa Rica and will fly direct from San José to Fort Lauderdale (Florida) starting in November 2017.
A Boeing 737-700 with room for 143 passengers leaves Fort Lauderdale at 11.35 and lands in San José at 1.30 pm. The return flight is at 2.25 pm and reaches the US city at 6.20 pm.
Southwest has been flying from Costa Rica to Baltimore and Houston since 2015.
From November 7, 2017, to January 7, 2018, the airline will offer a special price of 89 dollars for a one-way ticket to Fort Lauderdale.
In addition to Southwest, KLM, Air France and Edelweiss are also expanding their routes.
KLM will fly non-stop from Amsterdam to San José starting October 31, 2017, while Air France will increase their direct flights from Paris to San José from two to three per week in the 2017-2018 season.
Swiss airline Edelweiss started operations May 9, 2017, and is flying twice a week non-stop from Zürich to San José.
