Costa Rica is easing driving restrictions on weekends from Saturday, October 17, 2020.
All vehicles will then be allowed on the roads on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., regardless of their license plate number.
Costa Rica relaxes driving bans at weekends
The driving bans within the week continue to apply unchanged(see : www.costa-rica-immobilien.com/costa-rica-fahrbeschraenkungen-im-oktober–2537).
The driving restrictions do not apply to rental cars, people with a hotel reservation, people driving to work and people driving to or from the airport.
The Alvarado government has also presented a bill to reduce the Marchamo tax by 50% for vehicles with a value of less than 4.2 million colones (7000 dollars).
The law, which still has to be approved by parliament, would benefit around 80% of vehicle owners in the country, Alvarado said.
The MPs, on the other hand, also want to reduce the tax on vehicles worth more than 50 million colones (around 83,000 dollars).
