Since October 30, 28 representatives of travel agencies and tourism companies from Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Great Britain have been touring “the Switzerland of Central America“.
Costa Rica: Travel agencies from Europe explore the country
The aim is to explore accommodation options, tours, typical local dishes and local attractions.
The group will stay in the country for a week and – divided into four groups – will visit more than 100 national tourism companies in the Caribbean, Dominical-Uvita, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio.
It is the first trip of its kind since the tourism sector in Costa Rica came to a standstill in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is organized by Grupo Futuropa-Proimagen, supported by the ICT tourism authority.
“We know that the visit of the travel agencies is a very good opportunity to show the world that Costa Rica not only has beauties that are worth exploring, but that it is also a safe country to travel to,“ Daniel Chavarría, President of Grupo Proimagen-Futuropa, was pleased with the visit.
The European market is the second largest source of tourists in Costa Rica after the United States.
Last year, 500,000 visitors from Europe traveled to Costa Rica.
