Liberia Airport is less than an hour and a half drive from Potrero. A shortcut in summer leads to the airport in less than an hour.

Access: A well-paved coastal road leads to the house.

House: Built in 2001, 4,844 ft2, on 3 levels, guest bathroom, 3 large bedrooms (each about 377 ft2) with large built-in-closets, bathroom (shower and toilet), fan and air conditioning. Every other room in the house has its own fan and air conditioning. The kitchen (approx. 108 ft2) has an air-extractor, the storage room (app. 108 ft2) provides plenty of space. The living room on the first floor (approx. 807 ft2) offers a wonderful sea view. The covered terrace measures approximately 861 ft2.

Remodelation in 2013: Included an extra room that can be used as an office or small bedroom. Above it there is a terrace with teak columns, teak decking, and an outstanding view. The overview picture was made before the remodeling was done. The house can be seen in the center with a blue-grayish roof. On the right hand side there are now the mentioned office and terrace.

Furnishing: All is covered with imported granite and marble from Turkey, Bulgaria, and India. The doors and windows, frames, closets and kitchen cabinets are all made from tropical hardwood (Cristobal and Sandal) and contain German hardware. The sanitary (Villeroy & Boch) and the glazed blue roof tiles of a heavy-duty quality from Holland were imported.

Construction: The overall construction has a foundation of 30 feet deep into the rocks. All walls consist of concrete filled blocks in which steel bars are implemented to avoid damages (tears) due to earthquakes. The heavy weight construction is in a top condition and all parts of the house are in an excellent state of maintenance.

The pool with bar is right next to the big terrace (app. 969 ft2) and has a surface of 538 ft2 and a depth of 5,25 ft. Water is automatically purified by a water-cleaning system that requires very little maintenance.

Parking: Carport for 2 cars in each of the 2 driveways at different levels.

Water supply is independent and delivers fresh drinking water all year round. A little shelter holds a water softener to reduce the hardness of the water. Kitchen and bathrooms have hot water. The septic tank receives the wastewater from the kitchen, showers, and lavatories, and is free of maintenance. It just requires a short yearly check-up to make sure that everything is working well. A water storage tank contains 1,500 gallons of reserve water.

Communication: Cable system for TV, Internet, telephone. Because of cable length, the landline has poor quality and hasn’t been used for years. Cell phone coverage is excellent.

Security: Every room has a burglary alarm that sets out a signal through the cable to the nearest by police station.

Potrero, a hidden jewel in northwest Guanacaste, is still the old Costa Rican coastal village where people doze in a hammock just a few steps from the ocean – as it has been in every coastal village in Guanacaste for many years. The road remains unpaved because the locals want it that way. No trace of mass tourism. On Sundays you can see children playing football on the square, and locals who go to church. The main feature of this place is its simple beauty.
